Pivoine Flora Shimmering Oil by L’Occitane en Provence is the latest addition to the brand’s Pivoine Flora range of products which also includes fragrances, a beauty milk, a beauty cream and more. Made using the peony extract from Drôme region of Provence, this versatile oil nourishes skin while leaving behind a subtle golden shimmery highlight and a delicate floral and green fragrance.

The shimmering oil was designed to “create a luminous immediate beautifying effect to the face, body and hair”. Since, I’ve only had a chance to try this product on my body, all comments that follow do not consider it’s use on the face/hair.  A bit of a disclaimer, but an important distinction. I’ve been thoroughly enjoying body oils in general this year but what distinguishes this product apart from the rest is the sun-kissed sheen that comes with application. Perfect for Summer, it leaves skin looking healthy with a noticeable glow. The oil itself is also quite nourishing, so you can also expect hydration from this product.

As for packaging, this product is housed in a beautiful glass jar with the L’Occitane name embossed on the metal cap. The product dispenses from a small hole at the top. I would have loved to see a pump dispenser instead but this is merely a matter of personal preference. The shimmer settles to the bottom, so a quick shake is required before use to ensure that all of the product is thoroughly mixed. I didn’t think I’d like the floral scent of this product because I tend to prefer citrusy, fruity scents. Typically shying away from floral notes, I was pleasantly surprised by this one. The fragrance is subtle and not overpowering in any way and seems to layer well with other fragrances I have in my collection.
